NATURE IS BRAND is the name of a upcoming exhibition by Thorvaldur Kristmundsson, held in Gerdarsafn art museum in Kopavogur, Iceland. The installation of 20 images show the combination of a man made item in Icelandic nature, cultural combination. The exhibition is open from 06. march to 02. may 2010.

This is the first preview of a project called “The Deep Fjord”. After more than five years of photo documentary in the west of Iceland, this project is soon coming to an end. This is the story of the inhabitants, the farmers and there surroundings, who live in a remote part of Iceland. After hundreds of years this community is soon coming to an end. The north east part of the country has a road that leads to a long and straight forward path to the most northern part of Iceland. The sea that surrounds this peninsula is an unforgiving neighbour, and have shaped the lives of the people living a long the coast of Melrakkasletta. At the end is a small town called Raufarhöfn. Its remote charm is both quiet and calm, what used to be one of the major shipping harbors in the country is now the host for few boats. A haven for birds and other living creatures.
