For many centuries whaling has been a tradition for people around the atlantic ocean. Because of greed, man has hunted many of it´s species close to extinction but some types of whales have recovered over time. Iceland ceased whaling altogether in 1989 but resumed commercial whaling in 2006 upsetting the world communities.
Thorvaldur Örn Kristmundsson has been a photographer for two decades and started as a press photographer. Covering major news events in Iceland and also in many parts of the world, his focus today is mainly photo documentary and fine art. Born 1970 in Reykjavik Iceland, Thorvaldur has worked and made stories for various agencies and magazines all over the world. He is working on several projects including a book on a life in remote places, still life exhibitions and a " NO HUMAN CONCEPT " that will take place in Iceland.
